I think so... I'm already pretty rusty with the plant stuff, but I thought sieve tube elements / phloem was mainly associated with nutrient transport. Xylem is for water movement.

edit: granted, the nutrients obviously need to be transported in solution. So, I am not really 100% sure.

Yes according to Feralis it says vessel elements move h2o more freely.. and sieve tube is part of the phloem so sugar transporting down...
