Hey gun guys out there:

got this new Sig mosquito 22 cal, great little gun but very fussy about ammo. Bought this as a cheap alternative for range, but really good ammo in .22 like CCi stingers are really not cheap and gun hates the cheap stuff.
Anyone know what shoots well out of this? I think CCi minimags do, but still expensive.
Open to suggestions.

PS- wish Glock had a .22, i could put wood splinters in my Glock and will still fire without a problem. Ugh!

I had a buddy that had one. Like you said, very fussy for at least the first 1000 rounds. Now it shoots Remington Bulk Golden Bullet ammo. It still doesn't like the federal .22 bulk stuff.

Ruger 22/45. I had a Mark II, sold it intending to buy a 22/45 but haven't yet. My Ruger ate everything I threw at it.

Try about 2-300 rounds of CCI stingers or velocitors- break in the barrel and it should eat anything after that.

Also make sure you clean and lube the gun thoroughly before firing it for the first time. I use CLP (cleaner-lubricant-protectant)- field strip and clean it to get all the heavy packing grease off of the parts, then dry it and place a very thin coat of CLP on slide, in barrel, etc. if you can let it dry overnite dissasembled.

I did this with my walther p22- very finicky gun re: ammo- once I did this process it eats remington golden bullets like they are going out of style.

My advice is until you get the barrel broken in, stay away from standard velocity and subsonics-- stick with hi and hypervelocity rounds.

Oh and stay away completely from remington thunderbolts- unless you really like cleaning your gun....

Good Luck- you have a really nice firearm there.

thanks- stingers good, but really expensive. Ill do all that stuff, fun gun- just high maintenance. Cant neglect it like a Glock.

Very true- but the mosquito will give you years of shooting fun with minimal cost once you are over the break period.

The cost of the stingers varies- try gunbroker.com to find some inexpensive bulk ammo.
