I am using Interfolio to have my recommenders write the letters of recommendations and submit them on that site with the request that I will send them. One option it asks me before submitting a request is whether "the letter must be signed." This is an option. So, it means I can check it or leave it unchecked (default). Does anyone know if a signature is required for submitting the letter of recommendation for dental schools on AADSAS. I never had this issue last year because we used something different.

Thank you.

AADSAS said this when I emailed them about this:

Thank you for contacting ADEA AADSAS. Once you have created an application,
Interfolio letters should be mailed to us, not uploaded, and we do not have any
signature requirements. Please contact your schools to see if they have any
signature or formatting requirements for your letters.

Has anyone sent one in without the signature and had to change it? I sent one in without the required box checked..

Interfolio messages should be mailed? Would you ask your professors to literally snail mail, or just ask them to give you a signed hard copy?

Okay guys, so here's the deal.

Yes, technically, your letters do need to be signed. Your letter writers ought to know that--it is totally standard protocol.

If you're worried, though, you're in luck. Just call Interfolio. They can look at your letters and tell you if they're signed. If they aren't, you can ask your recommenders to resubmit their letters.

Also... No, your recommenders do NOT have to mail your letters to Interfolio. An electronic upload is perfectly fine. However, when it comes time to submit, your Interfolio letters are mailed to AADSAS. I'm not sure if they are actually snail-mailed, but AADSAS counts it as snail mail--which is why they take a little while to be uploaded to your application.

Thank you Glimmer1991 for clearing that up 😀
