I know that AMCAS says it is beneficial to include "commentary on significant fluctuations in your academic record which are not explained elsewhere in your application" in your personal statement. Would one C in Organic Chemistry I count as a "significant fluctuation"? I have mostly A's and a few B's...that C is my lowest grade. I'm not even sure why I got such a low grade in that class...I guess just poor study habits. I'm wondering whether or not it is a good idea to bring this up in my personal statement or not, or just leave it out and explain it later during an interview, if necessary.

**EDITED TO ADD**: Forgive me for the typo in the thread title...I obviously need to proofread before clicking "submit"!!!

I'd say that a significant fluctuation would be a drop of 0.67-1.30 or more in GPA between one term and the next or between one academic year and the next.

So if you had a 3.67 GPA and it dropped to 3.0 GPA and then bounced back, you might want to describe what happened to cause that fluctuation.

Thank you so much; that is very helpful to know!
