I plan on taking the DAT in July of this year...I know the ada website says you can apply 12 months in advance and then call prometric and set the date...Just wondering, how did those of you who have taken it handle this? Did you register months in advance or right before...and did you have any problems?

I registered online. I picked a date that was close to when I wanted to take the exam. As that day came closer, I just determined whether or not I was ready, and rescheduled as needed. Just remember the closer you get to a date, the more likely it will get filled so try and schedule as far ahead as possible.

Follow these easy steps:

1. Fill out the ADA registration form:

2. Wait.

3. ADA will send you a confirmation letter with a 1-800 phone number. Call that number and find a center near you and schedule a day and time when you want to take the DAT.

4. or to see the center near you:

http://securereg3.prometric.com/Welcome.aspx

then under Step 2 select American Dental Association and select your state.
