Hi all,

So, I'm having some trouble keeping my ps to the number of pages that some schools have requested--for these schools, the only requirements were that the ps be double-spaced, typed, and either 2-3pgs, or 1000 words max, or 4 pgs max. They never mention anything about page margins, font sizes, but are we allowed to play around with that instead of keeping with the standard 1 inch margins and 12pt font size?? I don't intend to make my margins 1mm or anything absurd like that, but are we allowed to tweak it just a little, like changing the font size to 11 perhaps?

Don't get too tricky, as they will tell. If you choose Times New Roman over Ariel (will save you some space), and 11 instead of 12, or maybe 0.9 instead of 1.0....but I wouldn't do much more than that.

Agreed.

I applied to grad school a long time ago, but I still remember using 11.5 font (you have to manually enter it in the toolbar). But I think you would be fine with 11 pt, if necessary.

Nobody is going to sit there and count your words, or measure your margins. So if you fudge it a little (but not a lot), you'll be fine.
