Hi guys,

I would just like to know how much schools know about you as an applicant.

Stuff like:

-what jobs you've had, if any
-if you took out student loans
-if you have a house
-if you have a family
-stuff about your personal life, parents names etc
-what high school you went to
-etc

Basically, if its not on your app, can the schools find out, or is that illegal?

What about international applicants? Are they immune too?

I realize most of you guys would not know, but I mean if there is anyone hear who can possibly provide evidence then it would be greatly appreciated.

some schools are starting background checks. some of those things may come up in such checks but most of these are irrelevant.

If you got arrested and got charged with felonies or whatever it maybe something they're interested in knowing. The rest none of those things matter to them.

Why should they care if you have student loans or not? You'll be getting a loan to pay school and they get their money. If it takes you 50 years to pay it back its not their problem.

Same deal with a house. What high school you went to, your parents name. Or what job you had.

Maybe the job thing would be an issue for loma linda. Like if you were a pimp/hooker/porn star they might not be interested.

If you have a wife/husband and kids or even just a kid you probably could bring that up in your personal statement. But again isn't truly really relevant.

Given the number of applicants they get, the time and money to dig into people's background isn't worth it unless you're being admitted. In that case unless you have something really bad, it probably would be better you fessed up to it in your personal statement.
