I am self studying for the AP Language examination in order to opt out of freshman english or opt out of the placement test for English.

I have just started doing practice and did two passages untimed and haven't done so hot.... Approximately 60-66% on each, which is horrible and is making me doubt myself and how I can improve.

My question is: is there a strong correlation/similarity between MCAT passages and AP Language passages and the questions? If so, it will give me more of a👎 idea of where I stand and allow me to improve so I can be better prepared.

Thanks!

Post a sample passage link, and I'll tell you if it's similar.

There isn't a strong correlation between anything in high school and the MCAT. Someone is likely to argue that a r of .5 (MCAT vs SAT) or so is strong, but that's my opinion. Too much variability.

Ahh, AP stats. Good memories...

And what is your confidence interval? Don't forget to make sure the sample size is large enough and independent!

A lot can happen between your AP exam and the MCAT. I wouldn't worry about the correlation so much. Just study and work on your weak areas. You should get better with practice.

Hope things work out for you! 🙂
