The daily amount of water in fluid ounces (fl. oz.) required by our body system is numerically equivalent to one half of the body’s weight in pounds. How many cups of water is John supposed to drink each day if he currently weighs 160 pounds? (Assume 1 cup = 8 fl. oz.)

Ok, what I know is his weight is 160lb so he needs water 80lb to fulfill the daily amount of water. So I need to convert this unit to fluid ounces (fl. oz) but it seems weird to me. Can you correct me?
80Lb x 16oz/1Lb x 1cup/8oz = 160 cups?

The answer is 10........ where did I go wrong?

You messed up your conversion factors. You aren't converting 80 lb into ounces. It says you need 1 fluid ounce per 2 lbs of body weight (in other words 1 fluid ounce per 1 lb of body weight only considering 1/2 of your weight).

You have an 80 lb person which means you need 80 fluid ounces of water. This is 10 cups.
