This may be a redundant question, but if a molecule is meso and contains 3 sterioisomers, are the two non-meso steriosomers optically active, and if so they are enatomers of each other correct?
Using 2,4-dibromopentane as an example, yes. It has only 3 stereoisomers and 1 is the meso, the other 2 are optically active and are enantiomers of each other.
