Hey all,

My question is simple:

Do you need to ligate a posterior rubber dam clamp when you are just trying it on to check for fitting? (prior to rubber dam placement)

Thanks!

Sure, it only takes a few seconds and it will save a monster headache if you drop it down the throat. Just saying, I would do it.

It seems to me that this would be the most important time to have it tied as there is not yet a dam in place to stop it from going into the airway. Once the dam is on, if the clamp breaks or slips off then there is a good chance the dam will stop it (although you should keep the floss tied on just in case).
