There is sinai housing for residents and their families (not a requirement to live there). Average cost for a studio (sml-medium sized) is $1300 and that is subsidized. It's costly, but you sure wouldn't anything that price otherwise - plus I believe several of the buildings have doormen, etc.

excellent...i thought it might be almost double that so that's pretty cool! any ideas on what a 1 bedroom would cost as I have a wife and baby?
thanx E

Hmm, good question. I'm not sure what a 1 bedroom costs. I don't see why you couldn't just call the housing office and inquire. I'm sure they'd be glad to help. It's kind of weird how the lottery works - you can end up getting a large one-bedroom apt for $1300 or a super tiny studio.

PS you could always go for the new condos being built right up the street - a 1 floor apt only costs 5 mil 😀 (no joke!)

Does MS put you up for the night if you interview from out of town? Do any NYC programs?

neither cornell, columbia, sinai nor nyu offered me a hotel...i guess they're just like that! 🙁

i did an away elective at sinai this past summer, and a married resident told me they were able to get the largest one bedroom available for ~$2000. they also had the choice of getting a small two bedroom for ~$2000 as well.

i'm not sure if you have to get lucky in any lottery system to get such housing.

hope this helps.

Pretty much that's the overall consensus of the residents here - you can get lucky or not
