Since dentists have such great hours. Are there any that own businesses (absentee) outside of dentistry? Do you think it is possible to do both or would it just be mental suicide? If you actually do have a side business, what is it and do you enjoy or regret the commitment?

im not even done with school....however, i know a number of dents that own, or have owned food chains/restaurants, etc. 1 or 2 are even part owners in some aspects of NASCAR. some have owned consulting firms for other dents to help them with their own office. i personally, plan on having a fitness gym and/or restaurant sometime in the future. i have done training for years and do triathlon and cross fit now. i cant see my self just letting that go so i'll likely invest in something of the sorts once done with residency

Pretty cool to hear that many dentists can afford, time-wise, to do other things on the side.
