Eraserhead

I'd still like people's opinions on whether to re-send a secondary essay to correct a random typo or two.

I think that it would just annoy the Ad Comm and/or draw attention to something they might not even notice, given that myself and my friend I had proofread the essay didn't notice the mistakes. But if I do it, I should do it now versus later, so what do people (BESIDES BERKELEYPREMED) think?

Thanks,
Kevin

Forget about it, they probably wont notice. What message are you trying to convey to them by correcting it?

The message would be a) that I am not illiterate as Berkeley PreMed so kindly suggeted b) that I am worthy of my S writing score c) that I know how to use a spell check but did not in this case because the forms were online and d) that I care so much about getting into one of my top choice schools that the correction of such a ridiculous mistake is occupying my mind today.

The messages I fear and reasons why I don't think I should send them are a) this guy is anal and obsessive and just gave us two more sheets of paper to deal with and that's annoying and unecessary b) the forms says no changes after submission, and he gave us changes so he can't follow directions... etc.

So far two votes for send, two votes for no send....

For what it's worth, I wouldn't send it. I think that you would come off badly.

On the other hand, I don't really think that you should decide this by committee. If you can just forget it, forget it. If it's making you too crazy, send it, but don't spend this much time worrying about it.

Also, get over BerkeleyPreMed.

I'm not deciding based on what people say, I'm just looking for opinions/ related experiences... I don't think I'm going to do it, maybe its the fact that I have no more secondaries to work on now that's bothering me.

and I'm so over Berkeley PreMed

Are you even sure that they would accept the secondaries again? You should not do it or even mention the typos because then you are putting a spotlight on the problem. That'll make it worse. Focus on the positive parts of your essay and let the rest go. They probably will not notice such things anyway. Remember, they will not decide to not interview just because of a couple blips. 🙂

I believe in fate. So if you're meant to get accepted to school X, you will, regardless of the spelling mistake. If you're not meant to get accepted to school X, a million corrections and a letter from the dean of the school won't change nothing. So don't worry about it.

I switched two words around on my baylor application so one sentence didn't make sense. I got an interview there, out of state, so i don't think its that big of a deal. They either didn't notice, or didn't care... So I wouldn't worry about.

i had a couple typos on my amcas essay ( i forgot to save changes, logged on later and just submitted it). it hasn't made a difference, i've gotten secondaries, and one interview so far
