SIU applicants/students

Just a couple of questions for current SIU students and applicants 1) I've heard that the "accepted when seat available" letter means that most surely you will be offered an acceptance.Is that true or does anyone know different?

2) Does SIU actually have a waitlist?

3) How many of you hold acceptances that you will be declining?

accept when place available (AWPA) does almost always mean acceptance, but last year there were people on that list who did not get in and the wait list wasn't even touched. If you have the AWPA now, you're in pretty good shape I would think. It depends on how many students offered acceptances actually take them. Two years ago, I got mine in mid march and I got in, but like i said last year was different. The AWPA list gets run down first, then it moves onto the waitlist.

we do have a waitlist, sometimes it gets touched, but sometimes it doesn't. as for the last question, can't help you there.

Thanks. I know the next batch of acceptances is in March.Do you know when in March and how many they pick at that time.Do you have any idea how many people with "ACCEPT WHEN SEAT AVAILABLE" letters did not make it last year. I'm surprised there are not more SIU applicants / students on here. How do like Carbondale? Thanks!

Did you know about the batch that went out last week? I called admissions after the November batch and they updated me over the phone.

Call them, what do you have to lose?

I received my space available letter the end of November and my official acceptance in January. You?

I got an AWPA letter in October 4 days after my interview....and haven't heard a word since... go figure. Springfield is my hometowns and I shadowed 4 SIU doctors. Does this make since to anyone else?

A friend of mine was just accepted off the AWPA list at SIU (SAturday by mail) so it looks as if things are starting to move!

I hope you enjoy SIU. I really had a hard time dropping that school. It seemed so nice.
