Hey guys, so I used both sketchy medical and pathoma during the first 2 years of medical school and did pretty well (and saved a lot of time) with them for Micro, path and pharm.

So I was wondering, if i wanted to do really well on step 1, should I skip those 3 subjects in First Aid and instead do lots of practice questions on them instead? And whenever I find information missing in sketchy and pathoma, I'd just refer back to first aid and take notes?

Would that be recommended? Thanks in advance!

I would not skip those 3 subjects in FA. At least read through them and make sure you know all the details.

Even though 90% of my micro knowledge came from sketchy and micro was one of my best subjects in step 1, I did notice several details in FA that were not covered in sketchy, such as genes for 5 bacterial toxins being encoded in a lysogenic phage. Also the micro pictures like stain images are all high yield and they are not being covered in sketchy.

Pathoma also does not cover everything in FA path, so I would not skip FA.

If you know those topics so well, you should be able to skim through those sections in FA quickly and confirm it's just review. But I think skipping them entirely would be a mistake, as there will undoubtedly be some facts that aren't just review.
