Pretty much we all are. Unless, you are the one doing the skimming. My question is: How much off the top is too much?

Let's say you are an employee at an academic or a private place. What % of your collections should you keep?

This is the one thing that regularly makes me reconsider staying in academics. I'm comparitively well paid, but I know what we average in collections, and I'm giving up over $100k even with generous estimates of my benefit costs. That's just too much. Eventually it will be. Because of the nature of the job, some bill many more units than I, for the same salary (some also bill far less). If I was losing >200k, I'd probably quit. It's not worth it.
