I just saw this:
Dr. Hochstein, or Dr. H as he is known as, began his medical career when he applied to medical school as a merit scholar high school senior. He was able to surpass the customary four years of college and go directly from high school into medical school. The first in a long list of exceptional achievements to be obtained during his academic and surgical training. He attended the accelerated program at the Louisiana State University Medical Center where he graduated as Valedictorian of his class. It was during his time in medical school that Dr. H worked closely with the Department of Surgery and had his first scientific paper published. He received his M.D. in 1990.

Can someone explain why he can skipped college?

I think there are actually a couple of schools that don't require an undergrad degree, so it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility. Especially if he started med school in '86, the requirements for matriculants may have been more lax back then.

I thought in australia, you can skip college and attend med school.

Thanks for the false alarm, OP

I think England and Ukraine have the option as well. As a matter of fact, I believe there are many places where this is possible.

Hey, they said so themselves "He was able to surpass the customary four years of college and go directly from high school into medical school." They're giving the false information.

Yeah in other countries you can skip college and go to medical school, but in the US it seems quite impossible.

Not if the school where he did the BS/MD program was a medical school. If that's the case then he's technically telling the truth! :meanie:

Yeah, the Sophie Davis program is technically considered medical school from the first year. Or so the students have told me...😎

6 year programs are rare nowadays. I know UM and BU have gotten rid of them recently.

Don't be the Lebron James of medical school. Have fun in undergrad.

Hmmm, I don't think your Lebron James example is the best one. I think anyone in his position would have drafted as well. All it takes is for one injury during your 3-4 year stay and your professional dreams are over whereas you can go back to college any time to get a degree.

Carry on 😎

I bet you Lebron is dying to retire so he can go to college and get a degree.

My dad didn't entirely skip college, but doesn't have a degree from it. Things were different back then. You could potentially skip a big chunk of college back then, especially if you did classes in high school maybe?
