uhhhhh.......You want one as pet or as a rehab? Is there a good reason you want one. Do you just want this pet because it's exotic?

I really suggest you call local zoos and wildlife rehab centers and work with them first. Where I was we had several skunks as education animals....all which where there because they were unable to be returned to the wild. Everyone I've known that's had skunks was a professional rehabber and had been for some time.

They maybe super cute, but unless you have valid reasonings which have already been mentioned you are way better off with maybe a sugar glider or something a little more "domesticated".

well at a pet shop i use to work at they had skunks for sale. they are pretty simple to keep{in comparison to some exotics}but they closed and i can't find any anywher else. as far as sugar gliders i tell my girl that they are just squirrels! so i hope she does not see this post. cuz thats exactly what she wants

now back to to the matter at hand. zufuss where did you get that pic from. i've talked to plenty people about this and none of them said that this would be that hard. i just can't find a breeder that sells the right color{black&white is illegal in the south cuz there locals down here}

well maybe i can't read or write ether since i clearly don't go to a real school and is some "rando" {by the way cool slang. i'm really gonna use that one}who found this site while searching for skunk porn . but let me re-post so you, the great poster{w/81 posts under his belt } can correct my answer:

Being pre-vets, we are not the be all end all, okay?
Case in point, it is illegal in my state, but legal in some other places to own a domesticated, de-scented (not really a word, is it?) skunk.
I think a few states require the animal be any color other than black and white. Please check with your state Dept. of Agr. for more information. I personally think the peach colored ones i saw online are pretty cute. Wikipedia has a section on them.

Thanks DVM i couldn't have said it better myself. i want a skunk cuz a while back i held one at a pet store and i've been in love ever since . and thnk you truth. i've alrady done my homework on the legalities of owning one. i'm actually looking for a carmel color. but i'll take whatever i can find

My point is that what he's talking about is not even relevant to the topic on this discussion board, so he's in the wrong place. As truth said, what do pre-vets have to do with finding a skunk?

First of all, i have posted on a couple of other forums ya lil prick
Secondly, i think a VET forum would be the prefect place to get advice on chosing a pet{especially one as exotic as a skunk!}
Thirdly, if you don't agree w/the thread don't post on the thread! cuz all you're doing is helping it stay at the top of the list! which helps my cause more than your protest, dumd ass.
Fourth of all, don't try and pull horesyvet and zufuss in ya little piss ant argument. Cuz unlike your ingnorant ass they actually had very intelligent and helpful answers. and if you really could read well{which i'm starting to question}nether one of them questioned my school status or this thread. now if you really want to go at it with me let me know so i can put the gloves for ya

right....nice come back, "ingnorant". listen the fact that i resorted to name calling does not make me "ingnorant"{childish maybe } The fact that you claim you're in college and don't know how to use the word "ingnorant" is "ingnorant". the fact that you claimed everybody in here was trying to figure out why i'm asking vets and vet/pre-vet/animals sci majors about an animal, when they clearly were not is "ingnorant". the fact that i answered your question about my status in school and yet you still asked me again is "ingnorant". the fact that you believe if someone uses a few choice words to describe the way a person is behaving{an acurate description if i do say so myself} just because those words are frowned upon is "ingnorant". so i think i'll stand by my stament. You obviously don't understand. You almost illegibly asked about where to find a skunk in your local area from a bunch of people who are talking about an admissions process. I then asked if you were even pre-vet and all you told me was you are an animal science major. Then you used a bunch of offensive words and then called me ignorant. And what are you talking about with the smaller words?

I'm going to restrain from further comments because adcoms read this board, but really, the name-calling certainly IS ignorant.

Find someone who knows a great deal about Skunks but does not sell them - and learn what you can before hand. I think if you find an unbiased person (in other words, someone who isn't trying to sell you one) you may find that this is a very poor choice.

I'm also a little disturbed by the posts on this thread -- grow up.
