Hey all. Sorry don't flame, as I am not sure where to post this.

I was just wondering how possible this is. I have a bio test monday, worth of 5 chapters and approximately 150 powerpoint slides. However, I've been slacking in that class A TON and pretty much haven't reviewed any of it...Its basic stuff on molecules, the cell, you know just like every bio textbook usually is.

The question is, if I study about 12 hrs a day on sat and sun, should or would i be able to retain that information enough to get my A? It's a 50 multiple choice test. I'm a soph transfer student and just started my premed, while last year was all engineering and i didnt' study at all. So...my science study skills suck. Ah well, it's like the typical freshman crap i guess.

OK!

Thanks a lot for your input.

Here's a better advice. Shut down the pc and start studying.

if you're adamant and determined to get that A, then by all means you will get it. just don't stress out too much. well it's not like you had enough time to study anyway. all that bio material is alot to remember in 2 days. well, best of luck to you, and next time, remember to study earlier and NOT slack off. 👍

Depends how smart you are and how hard the test is. Assuming that your IQ is above 130 and the test difficulty coefficient is below .7, you should be able to obtain greater than or equal to 90%. If your IQ is 110-120 you will only be able to do so if the test difficulty coefficient is between .4 and .5. Ask the professor if his curriculum is standardized to the difficulty coefficient system if you really want to be certain.

you should know by now whether you do well as a crammer or not. i mean havent you run into this problem before? i know that i did for most of my tests.

you could probably do it, but in a week you'll have forgotten it all (not like most people care about that, anyway)

It's Thursday night, or Friday morning. You've got all the slides and the chapters.

No new material between now and then.

*only* five chapters and 150 ppt slides?

Did you go to the lectures? Hopefully you retained some.

First, with a highlighter read over the book, then look over the slides (with a highlighter) on Saturday. Make some coffee. Start at 8 am, and go till midnight. Be sure to take times for naps and walks if you feel the need. Avoid SDN and Video Games, SO(s), Friends, Parents, or anything. Mayby schedule dinner and lunch if you want to make time for other people.

After you've done all that, draw out the pathways that you need to memorize again and again until you've got them down (you shouldn't have more than 10 for a test, I'd think sig less, I had less than 4 for an entire semiester of biochem in undergrad).

Have some discipline, and block out the world. Study somewhere with few distractions. You'll do fine. Just hunker down and work. You've got more than 48 hours. Spend 28 of 'em studying hard, and you've got 16 to sleep, and 4 for leisure!

Ok wanted to fill those in on who tried to help me out. I studied off and on all weekend blah. I had some distractions and such but oh well. It took me forever to read the chapters, but I think i retained the most from reading those instead of the pp slides. I virtually did no studying or reading for this for four weeks, and expected to cram the weekend before and get an A, well that didn't work.

I did what I could. Got a 33/50 on it which is okay I guess. I learned how her exams are like and that i'm a ***** when it comes to studying, as I have a chem test next thursday too and I need to learn 4 chapters for this too and haven't started studyin yet. Oh well, the bio test will get dropped since its the lowest test.

So there it is, my kick in the face for the week.

What do you do in the mean time Tim Haas since it sounds like you rarely ever study? I know I am a procrastinator but I ain't nearly as bad as you..
😀

Short answer for me is that it wouldn't take me more than 5 hours to know the material well enough to get an A, but it depends on the person.

god didn't bless me like that...coming from a long line of non-high school graduates and people that didn't go to college. It's my fault. I should've read more growing up.
