Sleep programs

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Michigan has a large and well run program- 6 fellows.
Stanford is good too.
I don't know about other programs.

Based on my observations...
When considering sleep at a program,
keep in mind how stable it is.
What its relationship with the pulm department is. Some neurology sleep programs have gotten taken over by pulm.

I've been judging the strength of sleep programs based on how fiscally sound they are (# beds, pt volume). If a sleep program is strong financially, then it doesn't have to worry so much about the administrative headaches of going under or being taken over and can spend more time training.

Michigan's sleep department is being moved to a farm... That in of itself sounds wonderfully restorative and an instant cure for sleep disturbances!

Which programs are great for "sleep." Not just for residents, but sleep medicine?

From what I know, Cleveland Clinic and Michigan have good programs. (FYI, I am not a sleep fellow.)

Also, discgoddess makes a good point on considering the relationship between neurology and pulmonology. I suppose that it would be safe to assume that a stronger neurology program is more likely to give one a better elective experience in such subspecialties.
