Not sure if this best falls under the scope of neurology, psychiatry, or psychology but I'm going to start with you guys since obviously a part of the brain guiding motor functions is active. What is the neurobiological abnormality of sleep walking? How are seemingly complex movements and coordination like walking, driving, and talking done with proficiency without the consciousness of being awake? And what about speech regarding how they can seemingly respond to people talking to them?

Any information would be appreciated. Just my morbid curiosity running wild.
