My friend, we'll call him Mitch, is too puss to post for himself, but he wants to know if anyone has heard of the SMEP program and just how competetive the acceptance process is?

I guess it depends on where the program is, but most are fairly competitive. I know NYU's Summer program last year had over 900 applicants for 30-40 spots. The one I participated in had 300-400 applicants for 15 spots. Apply to several to increase your odds.

I'll be going to Yale's SMEP this summer; I think the competitiveness of it depends on where and when you apply.

EDIT: "Mitch" was asking about AAMC's Summer Medical Education Program, right?

I think it should have stayed MMEP. The program is extremely helpful and not to competitive to get into.
