hey everyone! i keep on reading that the smooth ER is in charge of synthesizes hormones in the body. however at the same time, the notecards i have say that if cells are making hormones, the rough ER is very active. can anyone simplify this for me? i looked online and couldn't find anything to help me out. THANKS!!

Hormones can be derived from lipid or peptide pre cursors. Lipid is synthesized in the smooth ER while peptides by the rough ER.

Estrogen, Progesterone, Testosterone - Lipid derived hormones (specifically cholesterol)
Insulin, Glucagon- Peptide hormones
