Hi All, went through some rough times in covid and screwed myself over in my SMP. I have Bs and As peppering my 1 year SMP, but the main issue is my biochem grade. Had an A in undergrad and took it lightly, got a C+ taking it the first time. Took it again and got hit with some covid deaths in the family got another C+. Overall in the semester Third time I took it I got an A. The A replaced my C+ in the GPA calculation but the Cs show up in the transcript. I did ace my last 2 classes in the last semester i retook biochem for the 3rd time and nearly topped the class in both of them. I'm getting letters of reccomendations from both the teachers.
Will I have any chance this cycle? If not, will taking a year to get more solid recommendations + more clinical hours and a better MCAT grade help? Or am i screwed?
cGPA: 3.55
overall SMP:3.75
MCAT: 517: 129/129/129/130
ECs
Clinical experience: 250hrs
Non Clinical Volunteer: 300hrs
Help found a research journal affiliated with the university
Eboard of cancer club for 3 years
Peer mentor for two years
3 years of research
I'm in a bit of a weird situation and am not sure what to make of it. Do I have any hope?
