Reading through the threads I read a lot of 4.0 gpas in smps. I am currently in an smp but averaging 3.6-3.7, do you guys think that med schools would consider this a good enough ms gpa? Tx!

a 3.6 is one the lowside for a competitive smp gpa. how's your ugrad gpa and mcat?

How could the answer to this question possibly help you? You're in the SMP, you're probably going to apply for admissions regardless of the grades you get, and all you can do is the best you can do. Go study.

Well, you need to both apply AND get as close to a 4.0 as possible. Visit your professors and get some insight about your upcoming final exams. Just remember that an SMP is quite possibly your last shot at entrance to med school. Study with a sense of urgency and determination...that's what keeps me goin and ahead of the game. Also, if you are applying to schools right now, you might want to email them a mid-semester grade report so they can have an idea of what you are on track for finals. Plus, they might email you back with some advice. Hope this helps!

for starters an SMP is not your last shot at getting into medical school.

secondly, if you had a low undergrad gpa then the SMP is a great way to show your maturation, along with preparing you to do well on the MCAT.

if you have a significantly higher gpa and do well on the mcat (above a 25 if your looking at DO or a 30 or higher if your looking MD) after you complete the SMP then you are def proving your worth.

Throw in some extra-currics in there as well and you are showing schools that you managed to do well in an accelerated program, do well on your MCAT, and volunteer your time (shadowing or research) at the SAME time.

if you can successfully do all that then you can do nothing more except rock your interview.
