Hello,
I'm posting cause I need some advice for a friend that is considering this route. He has a 3.1 sGPA from a state university of New York and a BS in biology. He scored a 502 on his MCAT. The GPA was low due to extenuating circumstances (Mostly B+ grades and A-s, but one semester of extremely low grades due to a family member getting gravely ill - the family member miraculously did recover, thank goodness).
My friend is looking for a masters program or a SMP that will help him repair his GPA. He is currently waitlisted at DO schools but is preparing just in case. He would like to stay in the NYC/Long Island area, but is willing to relocate if need be.
1. Do you have any suggestions on well renowned masters programs?
2. Are there certain programs to avoid?
3. Is an SMP the best route? Or is a Masters of Science at any school ok (for example, a Masters of Neurobiology at ___ University)
