If you did an SMP or Master's that helped you get into dental school, share it with us!
List:
1. Name of Masters
2. Schools accepted at
3. Schools with interviews
4. Undergrad GPA
5. Masters GPA
6. DAT Score

I've used this site for a long time so will finally contribute...

1. Illinois Institute of Technology
2. University of Michigan
3. University of Michigan, University of Illinois, SIU
4. sci 2.98, overall 3.2
5. 3.9
6. 19AA, 24PAT

The masters degree was in Biology with a conc. in microbiology. I was only a full time student for a year, then did the last 2 courses online while I worked. People need to realize that you should really choose a masters that can help you down the road if dentistry doesn't work out... I see a lot of people pushing for BMS and other similar post bacc degrees but when companies see these degrees they instantly think you may leave for professional school. Just my 2 cents. Good luck to everyone

Thanks for the reply! DId UMich really like the fact you did your Masters and did it come up a lot in your interview?

It honestly never came up in an interview question. From what I experienced, being called for an interview means that you have all the credentials required for being in the program. The interview is more about learning your communication skills, confidence, and ability to carry on the school philosophy and culture.

That being said, I would have no shot at even an interview without my success in my masters program.

Hi,

My undergrad stats (including post-bacc) are similar to yours. Did you apply to dental schools and masters programs concurrently? Or did you wait to apply until after you completed the masters?

Thanks!!
