Firstly, apologies if this has been answered (I'm sure a variant has, and I've read many threads, but would also appreciate perspectives specific to my situation), so feel free to redirect me to a previous thread. I've also read the "Goro's advice for premeds who need reinvention."
So my situation: Graduated in 2007 as an English major (pre-med concentration) with a sGPA of 3.34 (might be a 3.3, if this Evolution course counts), 3.65 overall. I've worked in a variety of capacities for the last 12 years at a community health center that serves vulnerable populations (case manager, clinic manager, IT) and have consistent non-clinical volunteering for the last 6 years. Never took the MCAT. This past winter I decided I needed to make an earnest attempt at med school, after all this time, or I'd forever regret it. I applied to the Tufts SMP and also Harvard Extention School's pre-med program, got into both. I've spent a bunch of time reading forums and fell into a pit of despair and indecision. Honestly I wonder if the best thing is actually a DIY approach, continuing to work (income is nice) taking some more sciences like biochem, anatomy, physiology, biostats and studying for the MCAT rather than the Harvard Ext Pre-med (retaking the courses I took 12 years ago) or the Tufts SMP (lots of $$$, kinda risky). Thoughts? Questions? Thanks in advance.
