Hi everyone!

I was wondering if anyone knew how Samuel Merritt's interview process is organized? Group interviews? Panel interviews with just one applicant at a time?

Good luck to all!

Unless they changed it from when I had it...it was an individual interview with a panel (two faculty & one student). They have a page of questions that they choose about 5 questions from and you get about 10-15 minutes. After you answer the questions, they will ask you if you have any questions so have about 5/6 questions ready beforehand. When I went, they gave us an introduction to the program, gave us 30 minutes to write an essay on a prompt that they gave out, and then called us one by one for the interviews. They had four different rooms that they were doing interviews in so it went by quickly. good luck =)

Any suggestions for the essay prompt?
What was the topic about?

I believe mine was something about describing a hurdle & how you got over it in terms of education or getting where u are currently. A simple 3/4 paragraph essay, without any spelling mistakes should be fine--just make sure to re-read it once you finish writing so you can catch any spelling/punc. mistakes and make sure it flows.

What year was this? and what did you bring with you to the interview?

a year ago, I brought a folder with my resume, blank pieces of paper just in case. I also brought a pen & pencil. I ended up not needing any of it since they pretty much give you a folder & everything you'll need. good luck!

Trust me please, as a caribbean grad from Ross, you do no t want to throw away your time, money, and efforts with this school. I have tons of friends that went to this school, not one recommended that i send my brother to St. Matthew's. From the top of the school all the way down to faculty, they are a mess and do not give a rats ***** about you. They offer no financial aid (unless you illegally use money from an mba program to pay off your medical school tuition, even with that waste of time you will be short), they are not licensed in many states, they will keep changing rules while you remain there, and they have all sorts of legal troubles, lawsuits, etc. So they are on a nice island? If that is your reason to go there, God help you 🙂 Seriously, please look to the better schools, like ROSS, SGU, AUC, AMA, AUA, and I am sure others. This school will put you in debt or weed you out, actually both. If you think you won't fall into this category, trust me you don't want to think like that and you will wish you listened to me if you get yourself into this mess. I sent my brother there despite the warnings, and now he is in a huge bind. Help yourself and heed this advice, i am doing this only to save people the pain and agony of what my brother had to endure. Sarim

CarribeanGrad.. I think you have the wrong SMU. This thread is about Samuel Merritt University's occupational therapy program in Oakland, CA.
Though I do agree with you about St. Matthew's. One has to be extremely wise and educated in financial smarts when considering any school in the Caribbean but particularly St. Matthews. I've had a few friends at SGU and its been a nightmare of an experience. Even though they are better rated.
