Hello everyone,
My name is Reem Azzam, and I wanted to share my experience as a current student in the Samuel Merritt University (SMU) Master of Biomedical Sciences (MBS) program. When I was deciding which graduate program to pursue, I received multiple acceptances and felt unsure about which direction to take. After spending time in the SMU program, I can genuinely say that I am grateful for my decision.
I can honestly say that the level of support within this program has exceeded my expectations. The faculty and staff consistently ensure that students feel understood, supported, and set up for success. I work, participate in several extracurricular commitments, and complete the program fully online. Despite my busy schedule, I have always felt valued and accommodated.
The professors are flexible, approachable, and truly invested in our academic and professional growth. They recognize that many of us are balancing school with other responsibilities, and they work with us in a way that feels both respectful and encouraging. The program director is exceptionally present and hands-on; they are always willing to meet with students who need guidance, whether related to coursework or planning the path to a future professional program. Their involvement has been a valuable resource for ensuring that I remain on track toward my goals.
