I'm taking the TPR prep course but I'm also very interested in doing the SN2ed 3 month study plan. Is it possible/viable to do both? If so, which should I do first? I really, REALLY want to achieve my highest score on this thing.

You should probably ask this in the MCAT forums: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/forums/mcat-discussions.31/

That being said, doing both prep programs is overkill. The sn2ed plan is more than enough to get you up to par for the test. I had to forgo the last third of BR practice questions, the 1001 books, and the hat trick because of work constraints, but I was able to increase my score by 9 points on my retake. Save yourself the $$$ and focus on the sn2ed plan.

You're welcome! My improvement was definitely an anomaly, especially because I had never scored within two points of my score on a practice test.

Good luck on studying and kill the test when you take it!

The only reasons I can see for doing a prep course is:

1) You need a schedule to keep yourself on track (Prep courses generally provide this).
2) You need someone to explain to you the material.
3) You don't feel confident without taking one and you need that extra boost of confidence.
4) You want to fit in with the mold and/or have some money to throw around.

So if you follow the SN2ed plan and are intelligent enough and/or have competent enough self study skills, you shouldn't need a prep course other than just because. Also keep in mind that the "self studying" you would be doing is actually just going over material you should have learned before, not self learning a whole course with material you're seeing for the first time.

I would just do the Sn2 plan. The courses don't provide any unique insight to the test, and it's just if you think an instructor will make that much of a difference.

I took a course in 2009 and then self studied in 2013 and did 5 points better. Part of that was definitely improved study habits, but that's kind of the point. You will determine what you get, so save the money. Also, I did find using multiple sources more useful. I loved chads videos as a supplement to TBR and just a different way of learning.

I mainly want to take it as a confidence booster and because of the schedule. But I have plenty of time to cancel TPR. I'll see how the sn2ed schedule works out for me.
