Hey guys. So I am about to graduate from undergrad and hopefully graduate with about a 3.4+ cumGPA and a 3.3+ sciGPA which are all average. On the DATs I scored a 20/21/21 (AA/ TS/ PAT) which I think are fairly good scores. However, my RC and QR are both 18 (a little low for the RC section). I am waiting on a few schools for interviews, mainly NYU and BU but I don't think I'm going to get in this cycle. Should I do a post-bacc/SMP and raise my GPA or try to raise my DAT scores. The money is an issue with any grad program, and it would just be hell to go through the DAT again. Or should I do nothing and just work/hang out/travel for the "Year off"

If I just re-applied on June 1, do you think I have a good chance of getting in?
Keep in mind I am an Asian female, so I have a disadvantage here.

Oh, I also have a very strong upward curve from freshmen/sophomore year (did terribly GPA wise) to 4.0s the past 2 semesters. I also have about 60 shadowing/ assisting hours and good ECs and I think good LORs. Humphh what more can I do?

And I know these threads are really annoying, but I would appreciate any help here 🙂

honestly, numbers seem fine considering upward trend. did you apply broadly?

pack your bags and go to Bahamas this May after reapplying! your in a pretty good shape. If possible apply to some research programs or go to South America on a dental mission trip! Also apply to a lot of private schools!

Do you know of any dental mission trip programs?! 🙂

What was your major? Where did you apply?

I am a biological sciences major. I applied to:

BU
NYU
Columbia
UMDNJ (rejected)
Temple (rejected)
VCU
Nova (rejected)
Case
ASDOH (rejected)
Loma Linda (recjected)

A wide range there I feel. I know I am probably done at other schools besides NYU and BU.

I submitted my app in August and took my DATs at the end of August. But I didn't get my LORs in until like November. Is that what is hurting me?

I know to apply early next time though hah

thats exactly whats hurting you. Apply first week of May this year and have LORs ready asap! google IMD (international medical delegation) for info mission trips. Good luck. Also how did you study for the pat?

Yeah, it is definitely the timing of your application. Try to apply earlier next time. NYU and BU should be within your reach. I believe, with those schools you might still have a shot.
