Hello there everyone. First post.

I got 4 interviews (all late in the game)

Harvard/HST - Feb 18th. (I was the last interviewee..MIT said they got the apps late from Harvard).

Wake Forest - Feb 26th.

Howard - March 12th
Northwestern - March 14th.

so basically thats it. the Harvard one was the first unfortunately and my nervousness showed badly... and I'm not so sure about my chances for the last 3. just a general pessimistic attitude...

I'm an International student 😡 so I got massive rejections from a good number of schs just because of that....and its not exactly gonna work out in my favor with the others....

schs still waiting to hear/get rejections from

Penn, Yale, Hopkins, Baylor, Emory, and UCLA.

I think I can pretty much cross Penn and Yale off the list....

so any thoughts? advice etc....

edit: I feel at most all I'm gonna get is a waitlist... is that what these late interviews would imply?

140+ views and no replies?

c'mon. 🙁

Hey dude,

Keep your head up.... nothing's for sure yet, you may get accepted or in off a waitlist....

Try to chill.... strum the guitar, go for a run, sip (or gulp) a few brews...😎

cheers,

Tom

vladtaltos, I would not worry about it until you hear from the schools. Is there anything that you can do about it now? If there is, I would say go for it, but don't make your life miserable for the next month thinking about it.
Out of curiosity (I really know nothing about this stuff): Why is being an international student a disadvantage? Good Luck!

i don't know about the other schools, but with harvard, admissions are not rolling, so i think the issue of when you interview is pretty much irrelevant.
good luck.

vladtaltos,

I'm one of the unlucky people who has yet to hear from Howard at all since sending in my Secondary. Ironically, I live in Maryland, only 10mins from DC, and my best friend's mom used to teach at Howard, so I had her write one of my recommendation letters. You would think that I would at least get an interview there. But still the only "response card" i recieved from Howard was for the secondary. My LORs could be lost or "missplaced"....and Howard doesn't seem to have any information for me. When I called last month they said "We can't tell you anything unless you recieved our response cards".

I guess my question is:
When did you get your letter for interviewing with Howard?
Did you feel they ignored you as well?
Anybody got any advise as to what I should do about them?

Bostonienses, being an international student is bad because quite a few schools will not take non-U.S. citizens or non-permanent residents. So, if you apply to those schools, you get an automatic rejection. This is what happened with about half the schools I applied to.

Vladtaltos, keep your head up. You got an interview at Harvard, which must mean you're a pretty strong app (no flames on this point, please 😉) That should hopefully pull you through the drawback of late interviews. And as fava said, Harvard's not rolling, so your late interview date with them won't affect anything.

Best,

C.

I received the letter Jan 23rd. The date on the letter was Jan 16th and the postmark date was Jan 18th. IMO, Howard is a mess. They sent me a letter for interview w/o requesting LORs or that I fill a secondary. Someone told me that they do that, but it just seems weird. Yes to your second question. I had called previously and it didn't seem anyone knew what was up. Anyways, a lady that works at Harvard told me its actually a good school so I hope to get in there as well....

I'm not sure what advice I could give you. Try and work thru your contacts there to see what is up. Good luck.
