I kinda dismissed it after realizing that the entire premise for the complaint is invalid... Obamacare focuses more on regulating insurance companies, not the individual, so exempting himself doesn't really make sense unless he is exempt as an employer, which isn't the case.

For those aspects that do regulate individuals, I suspect the president and congress have healthcare coverage that far exceeds the minimums set up in the act.

IIRC, the states have the power to establish minimum coverage standards through their respective exchanges. Those states that have refused to establish exchanges ceded this power to the federal government. Irony alert.

In a related note, in 2011 HHS proposed a rule that all exchanged would have to include the same coverage options given to members of Congress.

But at a cost, correct? I just skimmed the link because I have to run out the door, but the point I was making is that most members of congress are not really living near the poverty line. They aren't the ones targeted by the act in the first place to exemption for them would be largely irrelevant even if it were true.
