So, has anyone received a grand total of zero interviews so far?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hang in there, friend. Most (if not all?) schools interview well into the spring. Just stay positive and update the schools you're interested in on your latest grades/EC's/achievements. :luck:

Zero interviews here too (complete mid august). I don't even have an invite from my instate school! I thought I was going to be pretty competitive in the application process this year. My adviser thought so too. Guess not. I must have blown it somewhere along the line.

It is absolutely true there is still time left in the cycle (I know for schools like Colorado it is still pretty early in the process). I'm giving it until the end of Nov before I start to get concerned. I feel you though, it definitely hurts to have this drag on without out any positive results.

To be optimistic, I went through the 2010 thread and found a couple instances of people getting interview invites in Jan after submitting in August. And several of my friends who are MS1 and MS4 interviewed in Jan and they were accepted without being on the waitlist.

In the mean time, stay strong (definitely easier said than done though!)

Everyone chill out! The interview season is from now until March. If you don't hear anything by Jan/Feb THEN you should start to worry.

Just remember to keep going strong so in case you don't hear back from any schools you will be an even stronger applicant next cycle.

Hang in there guys! There are still few more months left :luck:

Another thing. Make sure you are doing something interesting in the mean time so that if you catch a late interview they see that you are working your ass off to be a great physician. I am going to start volunteering 9-10 hr/wk at the hospital in addition to 60 hr work weeks in lab. I'm also reading ALOT about current issues in medicine and fun to read medical lit. If I find other stuff I will do that too.

Show them how much you want it and they will want you.

+1

If you applied early and you haven't heard anything by New year's eve then its time to panic. You guys still have 9 weeks.

You all make fine points. I appreciate it. And yes, I know there is still time. The panic is actually more a result of having no interviews+getting rejected from some schools...I am keeping myself busy and being as realistic about this as I can.

don't give up yet op. the admissions process is long and stressful. but you still have time so try to be patient. a lot of us feel the same way.

If you think it's MCAT related, then gear up for a re-take. MCAT is a huge factor in receiving an invitation to interview.

Most people get rejected from some schools. You will gets interviews here shortly, just stay strong and keep busy.

It is WAY too early to be losing hope. At least wait until December before feeling the least bit morose. And even then I wouldn't really worry. You're not alone in your feelings, but buck up - you've got time. Focus on what you're doing right now (school or job or whatever).

It's mid October, give me a freaking break. Even the most competitive med schools only just required students to turn in their PRIMARIES. I know plenty of kids with no interviews...heck everyone in my family who is or has been in med school didn't hear back til Nov and interviewed in Dec. and Jan.

And what do you know? Got my first interview invite via e-mail this morning! I don't even know what do think right now. Thanks for all the support.

CONGRATULATIONS!

Now is an appropriate time to panic...:meanie:

Why do you want to be a doctor?

Why do you want to come to our school?

Tell me about yourself?

What are some of your weaknesses? Strengths?

What is your opinion on the health care reform?

If you could be a tree what tree would you be?

etc.

Wow, this is great! 🙂 Congrats! Now it begins...

Not gonna lie, I am starting to lose hope. I am not really surprised (its because of my MCAT score), but it just hurts as it happens, especially considering my many unique credentials. I know its still (kind of) early, but the reality is really setting in.

Just wondering if there might be a few others like me in a sea of accepted med applicants 🙂 And of course, congratulations to those who were.

Just hang in there. If i remember correctly your an ohio resident, you'll be fine 🙂. We always "win"

Congrats! I'm sure your story will give some hope to everyone else who's still waiting. 🙂

I think it's the other way around. The very first batches of acceptances went out last week so it's actually a few accepted applicants in a sea of applicants still waiting.

Congratulations!

As for the interviews going out NOW, aren't they for next Jan/Feb?
Which means most slots are gone, since interview season concludes March/April
for most schools?

Not really. Some schools give you two weeks or less of notice and that would put your interview at early to mid-November. Some are a month (end of November early December). I think it depends on the school how many interview dates are left! 🙂
