So test day is 11 days out and pharm is my clearest weakness. I've heard the pharm on the real thing is pretty straightforward, so I'd hate myself for missing a gimme. Right now my plan is to dedicate the next 2 or 3 days just doing pharm questions and all the pharm sections of first aid but it kind of goes in one ear and out the other. 😳

Do you guys have any advice/resources/strategies for hammering pharm?

sorry to hijack the thread, but I have a quick question.

I have almost 3 weeks until my exam. Pharm is a weakness for me too. I have gone over roughly half of it. Have watched corresponding Kaplan videos. Would I be wasting my time to spend 3-4 days watching Kaplan while simultaneously learning the other drugs? Or should I just try and learn them without the videos to save time?

Have watched and learned autonomics, cardio, renal, neuro thus far

pharm cards for sure.

i had the same prob as you. study them hard for 2-3 days and then about 1 hour every day until your exam and you'll turn your weakest subject into a strength.

good luck!

You could listen to Raymon or do Katzung's questions, or do QBank ?s. I guess the key to drugs is to compare and contrast. Raymon is the sh** but not so much in his later lectures as I feels he just glosses some of the stuff over. I guess he lectures proportional to HY concepts.

That seems to be a good tool. I am 2 weeks away, weak in Pharm. and trying to memorize the drugs, hope this would help me.

This is a good start. I posted a number of days before my test about needing help with pharm, and somebody wisely suggested looking at quizlet. There are a lot of decks there that have relevant pharm. I used those, and I also went back over as much pharm on UW as I could (interspersed with other things so I didn't ruin my confidence lol).

I had at least one question on my test that I only got because I had seen the drug a few times in UW (it was not a drug I remembered learning during classes). And overall, my pharm was really straightforward and easy. I was also going in thinking I didn't know pharm, but I came out realizing that I knew enough. I hope the same happens for you.

i'm actually doing pretty decent (around 80s) on uworld pharm (except cardio and neuro which im hitting hard tomorrow haha). i really don't feel that pharm is a strength but as far as the test goes, is this a decent sign?

I considered pharm one of my weaknesses going into my dedicated study time as well. As someone from a school that doesn't really emphasize pharm I can safely say that FA, Raymon, and repetition repetition repetition did wonders for me. When taking the test I felt like all the pharm questions were doable, so hopefully that helps some people.

I also wen through all the pharm the day before, which I highly recommend. You're not going to get much out of reading the rest of FA during that last day before the exam, but you may be able to cram in a few side effects/details into your short-term memory
