It was both awesome and slightly disturbing. I guess I didn't write the whole thing, but my letter writer wanted me to add or change whatever I wanted so I threw in a couple small paragraphs. Anyone else done something like this? It's pretty trippy...

Wow, it's probably tough to write your own LoR. I think having your significant other write it or give some suggestions is a great idea though.

Find a great friend who is an awesome writer
Give him/her a list of your qualities you want to included on your LOR.
Spend maybe 10 minutes talking to this person about what you did in this position.
Send that person a short email with the bulletin points of your talk.
Wait several days
Look at the letter, see if you are happy with it. Change it a little or not.
BUy friend drink/dinner.
Give LOR to the person who told you to write it yourself..
Sign. Mail.


The letters my friends wrote for me were soooo good. They know you well.
Make sure you don't find a frinemy though.
