So much self-hatred amongst DOs lol. Believe it or not there's actually some of us that wanted to be DOs and like OMM.
I feel like two separate things are being argued here. On one side there are those that say you "owe your school for granting you your degree" and the other side is "I am not paying them anything more, I don't owe them anything".
Of course everyone should be responsible citizens as you're always representing something. Whether that be their medical school, your family, your church, hell, yourself. You always want to be a good person so that reflects well on the things you represent. But, you don't "owe" your school anymore than what is legally contracted: tuition. If you do anything bad outside of that, yes, you "let your school down" by failing, but in reality, they let themselves down, and that sucks more. Sometimes, things are inevitable. But, as long as you always try, I think society sees that, and that reflects well on your school, but mainly, yourself.
