Well I took my son to the dentist today, and I had my 2 year old daughter with me. She was so inquisitive about what they were doing to her brother. She kept insisting "my turn" so when the dentist was done with my son, she looked at my daughter and she opened her mouth and sat there like a big girl. I was so proud!!
My son who is 12 has 3 cavities and is going in tomorrow to have them filled, so we shall see how well he does. I am not taking my daughter to that appointment.

It is kind of weird to think that in four years I will be doing dental work on my kids. 😀

Damnn dude, your son is 12 and has 3 cavities already. You need to cut down the candy and the oreo's 😛 hehe, but thats kool your children like dentists... most of them are scared hahaha.

3 cavities by age twelve doesn't sound too extreme to me, but this is coming from a guy that has 3 crowns. 😀

Yeah I was gonna say by age 16 my whole mouth was pretty much full of fillings... I think thats what got me interested in Dentistry. I spent a LOT of time sitting there watching and seeing the cool toys.

As long as those three cavities don't turn into crowns, you will be fine.🙂

My son has some extreme issues with his mouth. And due to the ex's horrible coverage we could not get his teeth sealed nor would they provide flouride treatments, and the ex refused to pay for it out of pocket. My husband's new policy will cover some of the sealant cost so we are getting his teeth sealed. Daniel does not eat a lot of candy he never has. My parents, sister, and my ex's side of the family all have lots of cavities. I got my teeth sealed when I was 9 and again at 21. So I have no cavities. I am hoping that when Daniel gets his teeth sealed it will help.

Next stop the ortho for him. He needs LOTS of work.

Goodness...if you guys would all just FLOSS everyday then you would not need to worry about cavities and crowns etc....🙄

I am setting a good example for my patients b/c I never had a cavity before...🙂

Trust me sister, flossing isn't the answer always. I already have 3 crowns and an implant (27 years old). I floss, use mouthwash, eat very very very little candy, drink little to no sugary drinks and still every time I go in to the dentist I have a cavity. It runs in my family to have absurdly bad teeth so get off the floss high horse.

just drink lots of milk!!!! thats what I do... keeps the bones and teeth healthy hehehe

I would have to say that some people are more predisposed to getting cavities, and others it seems like no matter how much junk they eat, and how little they brush/floss, they never get cavities... I guess I will learn more about it starting this summer in Dental School... But I don't think it can hurt to just try your best to take care of those pearly whites

please stop. do not roll your eyes on those who do not deserve it, especially since you know nothing about genetic trends in the formation of cavities.

Haha...take it easy there. I'm sure she didn't mean it personally. Question...do you guys floss before or after you brush?

After... it makes such a good end to the day. But I always make sure I rinse really well afterwards to get out any residual plaque that I loosened up. LOL.

In the future, will you give yourself a sticker from the sticker jar following a clean bill of health after presenting for recall?

From the looks of all these angry people posting on here I guess we are the only people without any cavities! 😀

No, I have no cavities either... it's just not cool to patronize people. We are all adults here.

Plus, if we all look to the beginning of the post, I am thinking that this was supposed to be about a parent being really excited about their child being excited about the dentist. This is a very exciting, HAPPY occasion!

Try to say exact same thing to your would-be patients, see how many come back. I would definitely not want to be your patient.:laugh:

I am actually in it for Ortho or cosmetic dentistry...thanks for the warning though Chump...🙄

Hopefully going to an Ivy league school will help reduce your ignorance, but then again all we have is hope...🙄

hmm...don't know your stats...well since I am already accepted into an ivy league I shouldn't be mean to those that aren't so I will be nice and just let this one go...
