not cali resident, not wash/ore/alaska/nev resident, so my only hope of going to med school on the west coast is OHSU.

I don't know anything about this school though.

What are its strengths? weaknesses?
primary care vs. research?
student happiness?
stats for getting in?
facilities?

anyone?

ps-there is this one site that allowed you to look up schools and it'd give you reviews on that school by current med students. can someoen post the link?

thanks

i hear it's set either on a hilltop or the side of a hill with a great view...
in portland...
known for primary care but also has graduate programs in biomedical sciences, nursing, dentistry (?), etc... (to me, signifying that there are opportunities for research)

If you have a competitive application, you should also look into USC, UCLA, UCSD, UCSF, and Stanford, regardless of whether you are a Cali resident.

You would need an extremely comptetive profile to get into UCSD. They accepted only 2.1% of out of state residents last year, and with an avg gpa at UCSD of 3.8, you can assume that nearly all of those out of staters have ridiculous GPAs and MCAT scores.

yeah, i know. i also know that i would never get in. I'm OK, but not outstanding in any way.
my friend and i were thinking about getting temporarily hitched to any willing guys in cali though  that would make me a cali resident immediately wouldn't it? still a possibility 🙄

Top rated for primary care, family practice and rural care.

Portland is a great, great city.

Good opportunities for research.

Word is on the streets (sam jackson park, mainly) that their anesthesiology program will be making improvements as well.
