I did about a thousand uworld questions with zero improvement throughout. Ended up with a 44% after those questions. Well I stopped reading First Aid mindlessly, stopped doing questions and did DIT. Since finishing DIT, I've done 800 questions and I'm averaging a 60% on uworld, but this only puts my total average at 53%. That usmle to uworld correlation says at this pace I'm looking at a 203! My question is, I'm doing significantly better now that I was before, but should I be focusing on my overall average of 53% or my recent average of 60%? That 53% is scaring the hell out of me! I just want to know where I stand I guess. Sorry for freaking out haha.

why not do a quick review of viscero-somatics/chapmans points, and then do a comsae to see where you stand. itll probably put your mind at ease.

Take an NBME.

I'm assuming you're referring to the following link for your correlations >

From my experience that table is pretty off from the real thing. This is from my experience of looking at other people's scores and checking the table. The best way to find out what you would get at a given time is always an NBME. Nothing else can really give you that level of validity.

Does anyone else have any experience with the table I mentioned?

I can't speak for the real deal because I haven't taken it yet, but about 2 days prior to finishing my first pass of UWorld (72%) I got a 254 on NBME 13. I think that's pretty close to what that table predicts, but I still don't think you should be using the percent correct as a score predictor. That's what the NBMEs are for, and I'm sure their predictive value is much higher than any of the conversion tables out there.

The only way you can really know where you stand is by taking an NBME (preferably in a simulated testing environment i.e not at home in your PJs with the music on). I had some classmates that didn't do great in uworld, but really gleaned a lot from the questions they missed (and used them to guide their studying) and they were scoring upwards of 240+ on their practice tests. Granted they won't know until next week what they scored on the real thing but I would expect them all to do well.

I would not necessarily be discouraged by a low uworld average, as long as you understand why you are missing questions and really review those concepts/topics that you consistently miss or just don't feel as comfortable with when they come up in a question.

The UW correlation for those at the lower end isn't very good, main reason is because the exam can expose the gaps and hurt your score OR it can favor your strengths and swing it into the positive.

You started UW early in your prep before DIT. So look more at the post-DIT UW score of 60%.

Thanks for all the replies guys!

CDI, I really hope you are right because if I can hit 225 on the actual thing I'll be super pumped! Goal is to do another 800 uworld questions in five days and then start cramming my DIT notes and FA the week before the test. I wish I would have asked for advice sooner so I could take an NBME, but oh well. Good luck to all of you and thanks again!

PS: If anyone is considering buying COMBANK and taking the USMLE and COMLEX, I say don't waste your money and just get uworld. Just know viscerosomatics, sacrum and take 30 minutes to memorize the pertinent chapman's points (including the face which I did not look over) and you should be fine for the OMM part. My COMSAEs and COMLEX were both like this. I only had a couple questions on techniques so buying COMBANK just to see OMM questions is definitely not worth it in my opinion. OMM questions were very straightforward for the most part on COMLEX. Ok I'm done, thanks again!
