Wasn't May 15 supposed to be some huge day when like eleventy billion people were going to get taken off waitlists? I came here all excited and I don't see any drama.

The 15th was a Saturday. You think the adcoms were working all through the night on Sat and Sunday? Expect news in the coming weeks

Groan......I think i've completely lost the engery to wait and hope to get pulled off a waitlist.

I just really want school to start. (I've been on summer break for a year now)

Anyone else feel this way?

OSU accepted me off their waitlist, I am withdrawing however. Actually I feel really embarassed since I meant to withdraw several months ago before I took a spot someone else could be filling (even though it's only temporary I hate jerking people around). Time to get on the ball and pull out of Umich's waitlist also.

Hehe....I know what you mean....I've been bumming it this whole year too.....just waiting to heart those magic words..................

Most of the waitlist movement starts to occur around may 25th or so. Most schools are overbooked on the 15th, so it takes a little while.

Hey JB (that's what I'm gonna call you from now on.) I noticed from your sig that you're only about a month away from the boards. How's the studying going? You feel ready?

I think we can use an airplane analogy... you have to wait for the 10 minute rule then the standby people start getting on... but they also have to turn in their payment and credit card information to get through... and they might change their mind and take a 300 dollar bribe to take the less desirable option (the later flight or the flight to another city)...

Then of course more people will get on at the last minute but its less likely. For the most part we will be left cold and alone in the airport. 🙂

I still have faith but I know exactly what you mean.

Alright, some people will have a heart attack here. So far I have finished one time reading and highlighting the following books:

Lippencotts Biochem (400 pages)
BRS Behavioral science (217 pages)
Medical Microbiology made rediculously simple (257 pages)
Garner and Hiatt's Histology (534 pages. Hated this book, but had no other good resources)
Robbins Pathological Basis of Disease (1199 pages. Took me 64 total hours to do this)
Costanza's Physiology (I think 350 pages)
Lippencotts Pharmacology (read 130 out of 428)
High Yield Embyriology (157 pages)
BRS Gross Anatomy (367 pages out of 407)
BRS Nueroanatomy (408 pages)

So I've read 4017 out of the 4417 pages that I wanted to cover of in depth material. Now I shall review just the highlighting of those books, and I should be good. I'm glad I had sooooo much time to prepare. Most people just have 28 days.

On a side note, I wrote a guide on what to do for the boards right now. It's in the pre-allo forum right now.

Sweet Jesus that's a lot of reading. I'm sure each of those pages are pretty dense too so it'd be the equivalent of reading ~9000 regular texbook pages (maybe more.) You're right. We should get started beginning with year 1 cause there's no way you can study all that in 28 days.

Thanks for the book suggestions in your post. I'm gonna go buy the books soon (already have First Aid.)

seriously, i agree with brickhouse. and i don't care if the 15th was a saturday, at least calls/emails could be placed today (eleventy billion of them). i've about given up after today....i never want to wait for anything again, i'm going to my room to cry now and i'm not coming out all summer!!!!

You tell 'em kid. This process is worse than ELEVENTY BILLION root canals!!!

AND JALBY! Get out and make your own "listen to how I review" thread - this one's mine! :meanie:

I know what you mean. I'm on one waitlist with no acceptances, and I just want to cry my eyes out. I'm going to my room to cry all summer too. Do you want to join me? Even my dogs know I'm depressed.

believe me, i know how you are feeling! most of the time i try not to think about it too much and concentrate on getting in rather than my lack of an acceptance thus far, but sometimes it just hits you and it's HARD! good luck!... you're not alone 🙂

Don't cry. you're definitely not alone. hopefully you'll get in so your summer break won't be a year long like Lochmoor's.

There are several months left, so don't worry too much. People will be turning down acceptances they get from waitlists, there's still a lot of movement coming. I promise you there is atleast one spot at OSU that is going to be opening up sometime today. 😉

First of all, I like you because you're funny.

Second, does the little blurb underneath your name imply that you're going to become a gyn (i.e., "Future Box Dr.)?

I'm just curious, let me know.

Hey, he asked. On a side note, it seems to be that a lot of people are getting in very quickely right now.
Besides, I'm planning to do that thread after I'm done with my boards.

Good Luck Jalby!

there are people who have gotten extensions on May 15th, so that is part of the delay. I don't know how many, but I do know it happens....

I can only speculate on very few reasons why anyone should be granted an extension on this deadline. Do a lot of people get extensions and for what reasons??

From what one dean told me, the May 15th deadline is not rigid, in that the schools will not rescind any acceptances for those who are holding multiple until a few weeks after that. However, they will gently (or not so gently) encourage you to make a decision. Further, I'm sure people who are waiting on things like financial aid will also have time. However, if you are still holding multiple spots, please release them, so some of us can pick up your scraps. Notice I waited till after May 15th to share this information 😉

One way they "genty" encourage you to make a decision is by saying that you won't get your deposit back if you decline after May 15! That was enough for me!

So what are you guys doing this summer while you wait and this coming year if you have to reapply?

Getting ready for June 1st :scared:? Or sending in apps for other programs?
