Just curious about what my fellow pre-meds out there received as gifts this year. My future in-laws got me the books How Doctors Think and The Soul of a Doctor.
 
not really an item but I got a lipid panel blood test this morning, as an added bonus my doctor let me check my glucose and vitamin D levels!

Great book 👍 I bought some of Atul gawandes books for myself, since my parents aren't big gift givers. They did get me a sweet tablet as a birthday/Christmas gift though ( not really medically related)

Ahh, Jerome Groopman is my fave! I got a book by him too this year -- "Your Medical Mind". I got a few other medical school related books, as well as Kaplan's MCAT In A Box (I'm a freshman.. my parents are going to have no idea what to get me by the time I actually get close to medical school! I'll have gotten it all in previous years, haha! 😀). Seriously, that's all I got for Christmas -- medically related books. Oh, and one about The Iliad. Works for me!!

But someone mentioned GiantMicrobes.... Which are my favourite things ever.... I have around 12 plus a gigantic red blood cell.... oh man 😍

I got the 2010 Physicians Desk Reference and SDN Med School Admission Guide. Both came from my dad. he said those were payback for getting him Grays Anatomy a couple of years ago lol
 
An acceptance phone call five days before Christmas and the letter in the mail yesterday 👍

I might buy myself a stethoscope with my Christmas monies (I like giving myself Christmas presents :meanie:)

And I bought myself Gawande's "The Checklist Manifesto," which is quite good! And I'm almost done with having read all of his books 🙂
 
I didn't get anything for christmas 🙁 and if i did, it wouldn't be something medically related because I am not that crazy that everyone around me thinks all i care about is becoming a doctor. I have a life, kindA.

I got an acceptance letter this morning! but still no snow 😛

I got a pretty cool anatomy poster (things huge) and this chic I'm dating got me a build-a-bear stuffed dog thing all decked out in scrubs and a mask! (I want a dog so bad, but I have no free time for one!).
 
Bought myself a blood pressure kit and some pen lights a month ago. And I swiped a few pairs of gloves from my chem lab. 😉

I bought a steth and cuff as well. Discovered that my morning Rockstar raised my blood pressure by 20/10 for 3-4 hours. Stopped drinking my morning Rockstar.
 
named engraved stethoscope sounds really cool, I may consider it with the christmas cash - but who am I kidding - the funds are going into my trip abroad the summer before med school!!!

Just kidding. But hey I got a mini laptop for this coming semester and the rest were all fashion related crap. haha

licensed EMT and I ride public transit... hence gloves in my pocket wherever I go. Seizures have been occurring near me freakishly often lately, can't be too careful...

If that's the case, several throwpillows would be of more use in that setting than a penlight.

This year, my hubs gave me a new pair of work shoes (and got the right size) and two pairs of scrubs. I'm very appreciative since I haven't spent any money on anything more than bare necessities since going back to skool.
