So, what medically related item did you receive for Christmas this year?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
If that's the case, several throwpillows would be of more use in that setting than a penlight.

This year, my hubs gave me a new pair of work shoes (and got the right size) and two pairs of scrubs. I'm very appreciative since I haven't spent any money on anything more than bare necessities since going back to skool.

but penlights are so inexpensive and compact! (not that I've had the chance to use one fo real)

Sounds like you got a thoughtful husband 🙂

I forgot to mention, my reddit secret santa got me stuffed microbes at ~2.5million X. They double as christmas tree ornaments. rhinovirus, amoeba proteus, ebv, E. coli, and a neuron. 😀

Atul Gawandes Better: A surgeon's not on performance is a great read for pre meds. as well as Something for the Pain: Compassion and Burnout in the ER by Paul Austin 🙂

my husband got me 5 huge anatomy posters, an engraved stethoscope, the card game Healing Blades, and the board game Pandemic. i got him an imac 🙂

I got a coffee cup with a quote from Grey's Anatomy (the show not the book) on it. Damn good coffee cup. Holds lots of coffee.

I got the kaplan premier MCAT prep book, I'm a freshman and my parents are real gunners I suppose. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, though.:bang:

But what I really want to know..is this book helpful at all?

Got a new suit, shirt, tie, and shoes. Now all I need before Christmas next year are interviews to use these at. Makes me excited for the application cycle to start though 😀

Kaplan just got the job done for me - no more, no less (scored somewhere in mid-range 30's). However, I just used them for content review and practice exams (i.e. did not pay attention to their techniques/lessons).

Would I have scored higher with BR or TPR? I don't know.

Okay, thank you for the response. I think the practice exams are going to be the most helpful and the information will even be helpful for my current pre-reqs. But with that being said, will have to endulge into something more dense once those classes are taken. thanks!

Bought myself a blood pressure kit and some pen lights a month ago. And I swiped a few pairs of gloves from my chem lab. 😉

No worries, a few years back I treated myself to a fully stocked first-in bag 😍 With some of the things that I have been doing over the long term with my EMT cert, it has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. Thankfully though, it spends most of it's existance in the trunk or under my bed :luck:

You've already got Harrisons and you're not even an MS1 yet... That has gunner written all over it...

You might think that, but I'm a non-trad/fixer-upper/crawled-in-on-hands-and-knees who will be starting at 27, and it helps me cope with the fact that the ditziest girl from my high school class will be starting an IM residency the same year.
