My dream is to be a radiologist in the US.
One: in the US Two: a radiologist

I'm currently a foreign resident in training that will attempt that small
4year fellowship loophole.
Obviously i want to do something that interests me and fits me the most.
But to reach goal number 1 it would be foolish not to take practical
issues into consideration. So my question is among the specialties
what is in most demand, or perhaps I need to see it in another perspective...
least popular among fresh board members? Of course I understand that
it will differ from region to region institution to institution,
and who really can predict the future when everything changes so quickly?
Personally I like Intervention and GI.

Am I correct in that MSK is very popular. PED has a shortage. Breasts-avoided?
Oh, I'm male..BTW

Thank you in advance. Time for some more mammo readings for me.

Primary care. Welcome to family medicine.

You know what I mean. What SUB-specialty is in demand.
I'm not saying I don't like FM . I don't want to do residency twice.

I think neuro is also pretty popular. IR is also in demand (in terms of job market), but if you are doing IR full time, you are more like a surgeon (pro or con depends on what you like to do). I heard in the past that MRI fellowship was really popular, but not sure whether it is still the case.

What loophole are you referring to?

If I read you right, you want to do a 4 year "fellowship", become ABR eligible, ABR certified, and then apply for US immigration?

You need to look carefully at the ABR rules, I believe you need to do all your training at one institution. You want to be sure that the institution will at least consider renewing you as a fellow for that long. This may not be advertised, and it may not be a good idea to ask point blank, but you may find out if other fellows have hung around that long. One approach I have seen work is Peds (gen, neuro, IR) and neuro (dnr, inr). The other point is that if you get a faculty appointment that can count in your 4 years (as long it is all at the same one institution).

Body and IR are also possible. Never heard of anyone pulling this off from MSK.

Also, it may be easier to just apply for a residency.

Probably true. Mammography is most in demand by practices at this time. Reason: A lot of people don't want to do it.

Is this because of malpractice? I personally know of an individual who was recently sued for not detecting an obscure pathology that ultimately ended up being malignant.
