Since a lot of people have gotten their scores back now and there is nothing you can do about it. The last thing you have is humor. So, with that in mind, I am curious who has the most rediculous story about how their school notified them that they failed. There is a rumor out there that a few schools actually page you while on your rotation.

my school notified someone outloud - in person - right as they were about to insert an IV in a conscious, aware patient.

just kidding :hardy:

haha, that would be crazy. our school does an overhead page and announces the score over the intercom.

"Paging Dr. - wait - paging Mr Not-gonna-be-a-doctor, please come retrieve your lousy step 1 results. Mr Not-gonna-be-a-doctor, please come to the office. thank you"

(jk jk jk)

No one failed this year in our class (yet). However, I believe how they do it is they page your attending or clerkship director and have him pull you aside later and give you the news.

For me, they told one of my patients, and then while I was giving her a rectal, she said, "by the way, you failed step I."

Our school pages you out of rotations... you can't finish the rotation, it's a clean out your locker and don't let the door hit you type situation-you can't come back until you've retaken.

our school lets you finish the current rotation and the next one. They pull you out of your 3rd one and have you take 5 weeks to study and retake.
