I am a US-IMG who applied ERAS/MATCH 2018 with pending CK score.
Later in mid-October, I found out I failed CK (193). I retook it in early January and scored 239.

So this is where I am at:
Step1: 225 (1st attempt)
CS: pass on 1st attempt
CK: 239 (pass on 2nd attempt)
Applied to 300+ IM & FM programs, haven't gotten any invitations for not having CK score available.

I know I don't have much chance even in SOAP. But I'd like to know if there's anything I can do at this point to improve my chance or to avoid myself applying next cycle. Any strategy for selecting programs when SOAPing?

I am still aiming for IM Categorical but honestly, IM Prelim, FM(or anything else) is really what I hope to get it. Please help me out people out there who had similar experience.

I just posted about a new residency in For people interested in Family Medicine

so maybe that can help?

Can i match in soap 2018. I had no interview for 2017
244/249 Ck& CS pass First attempt. YOG 2012. 3 month USCE experience in inbound setting. 2 Us LOR with One Canadian LOR. Currently doing Externship In University Program in Internal medicine. IS there anything else i can do strengthen my applicant. Any suggestion would be great.

Those are solid scores. I'm surprised you got 0 interviews. Did you apply too narrowly? Did you not apply to family medicine? Applying broadly and to FM would probably give you the best shot overall. Short of that, if it doesn't work out this year, doing several observerships and making a good impression at one of the places you rotate at may be your best chance at opening a door.

I applied on Eras a week late around Sept 20, where the Eras opened around Sept 12. I did apply thoroughly , i have been doing externship and gaining solid Us experience. Hoping and keeping my finger crossed. I applied more into Internal medicine then Family medicine. I applied around 112 Internal, 42 in family medicine.

I agree it's somewhat atypical to get no interviews. Your YOG is just at 5 years, and some programs use that as a cutoff. Plus, you didn't mention your S1 score.

In any case, of course you can apply to SOAP. You have 45 apps, so you need a plan of where to use them. If there is someone at your current Univ program that can look at your app and give you advice, that would be excellent.

i am doing an externship in a University. Do you think i can get some guidance as how to use the 45 spots for Soap? I am new to soap and hoping to use it wisely

Step 1 was 244, Step 2 was 249

Sorry about that -- I missed it in your original post. Those are fine scores, they are going to get you through most filters. Applying slightly late shouldn't make much difference, I would think. Something sounds wrong / off somewhere. Did you apply to the IM program where you're doing an externship? if so, have you considered talking to the PD there to see if there were any problems with your application?

When i first applied. I was not doing any externship. I have gathered Us experience after September 2017. Originally i applied with 3 lor with just observ Lors from Canada. I strictly did Internal medicine and family Medicine. Do you have any strategies that i can work differently this time. Can i apply at Prelim Surgery Positions as though most of my Lor are in Internal Medicine?
