Am I the only one who doesn't know what "soft kitty" is? The name of this "song" and the idea of someone singing it to someone else over the phone is creepier than all of the stalker talk in this thread.

I'm not an IT person at all, but I'd say that hacking into someone's FB or email is pretty easy (I'm not an IT girl, but I am a conspiracy girl....). Didn't you hear about that group that crashed the CIA website like last week or something? Okay I guess hacking and crashing isn't the same thing, but I wouldn't be surprised if a decently good IT person can hack into any 'private' facebook. So if anyone's trafficking, or holding someone hostage, or planning to murder someone, or suicide bomb anything... I think it would be pretty stupid to discuss it over FB !!!

Possibly, but now we've gone from over-reaching deans and admissions folks to hi-tech Anonymous-style Vendetta ****. Vet school admin hackers across the country are reading this and under the impression that the thread has gone off track. 😉

This is what I was getting at. There are ways for people who know a good bit to get around the filters/walls/etc that Facebook (or wherever) has set up. People like me don't know (or really care) what to do but it CAN be done with the know how.

Truthfully I was very hesitant to use the word "hack" but for lack of a better word to get my point across I did. I know that IT guys don't do that all day, all I meant to say was that people who deal with computers and networking have more know how and accessibility than the average person. I don't even know the intricacies and interworkings of all the things they can do, but just speaking from experience I've had talking with other "IT"-type guys (one worked for Google and AT&T among other places), things are easier than people think.

Hi, welcome to the Pre-Veterinary section of Student Doctor Network Forums.

I know this topic is a dead horse, but every time I see it, I remember my FB is private but I google my name, just to be sure. My twitter is all over that. Worst part is it's archived on 10-20 twitter/info/wtf do they do anyway sites that are on the first page. I should NEVER have gotten a twitter with my name listed, not because my tweets are inappropriate (the third result on google says "Twitter/My Name: F**king roofers, I need to sleep!" Isn't that professional?) they tend to be inane. The problem is that all these archiving sites obscure my other results and make it appear as if I'm a twitter *****, even after making my twitter private I cannot remove these old public posts.

The first page of 10 results includes 5 references to twitter, 2 public message board posts related to my hobby, one "myLife" aggregate, my Biochem presentation on Diphtheria toxin and a link to my soundclick account, where you can listen to me sing "Amazing Grace."

Pretty inane, but damn those twitter things! :beat:

ha!! Singing Amazing Grace! When I googled my name it used to post a bunch of results from horse shows as well as start times. But since I've been out of the scene for a few years now, now the only thing that comes up is a really really old rugby profile and the rest of the people on the list aren't me. 🙁 I'm a nobody.

I had this creepy ex boyfriend that googled my e-mail addresses and found out all this stuff about me (websites I'd been to, forums and stuff like that). I was creeped out.

Someone's gotta show Eileen in Accounting how to remove the paper jam from the the Xerox. 🙂

Hi, welcome to the Pre-Veterinary section of Student Doctor Network Forums.

My name is August West. And I have 25 days until I hear back from Davis regarding my interview.

Start watching The Big Bang Theory 😉

No, I have no idea either. But I'm so behind on pop culture, too much time in the box.

........has anyone considered that teachers/employees/bosses can and do ALSO have "unprofessional" facebooks?? Errbody can get over it. I'll find a job, with or without my Spring Break 2010 Cancun pictures or my multiple documented weekend river trips. Complete with a classy snapshot of I and 20 of my closest friends from the vet school lined up in a circle shot gunning beers in the parking lot of Tiki Tubing. I am who I am.

Okay, here's a question for all of you:

I joined the Penn c/o 2016 FB, but that just means I'm a part of it, and others who are on it still see my profile as private. I like being able to talk about housing, places to go, etc. Now, I'm getting all these friend requests from future classmates.

Maybe it's because I'm a little older (30's), but I really want the people on my facebook to be people I actually know and have met in real life. Is it weird to just ignore these friend requests until we get to school and I meet people?

I'm not saying I'm an awful person, but I'm pretty sure some of the things I say on my FB would be offensive to people who don't understand my sense of humor or who don't realize I'm kidding.

Thoughts?

I doubt they will be offended, and you are gonna end up friending them pretty soon anyway. Might as well learn something about each other to start. IMHO. (FYI i wasn't on FB when I started school).

According to google, I'm a great volleyball player, technical translator, work for a European space agency, am a rider doing jumpers, and do brain cancer research. Sounds good to me. 😀

Seriously. Starting watching. You won't regret it!

I've watched it a handful of times and found it pretty hilarious. I guess I just missed any and all "Soft Kitty" episodes. YouTube to the rescue!

Just keep your Facebook clean. No one wants to see your cat pictures or your weekend documented.

What the f am I supposed to post there if nobody wants to know about my life or see my cats and I can't post unclean crap?

ffs some of you care way too much about what other people do on facebook. just hide the person's feed or delete them and move on if they annoy you.

Thanks, SOV. I took your advice and someone is already calling me a jerk on the Penn FB page because of my less-than-positive assessment of university city-area apartments. 🙁

This reminds me of the scene in Along Came Polly where Sandy Lyle asks Ruben if he spanked Polly like he told him to and he says "Yea, but I don't think she really liked it" and Sandy says, "Yea, some women find it offensive"
