Hey all,

I just wanted to run my list of Extracurriculars you and see if there is anything you think i should add.

EC'S:
1.) Private Tutor for 4 years
2.) Schools on Wheels- Tutor homeless children in my local city (Volunteer)~100 hours
3.) Volunteer at local Hospital~250 hours
4.) Research Assistant in Psychology Lab~ 200-300 hours
5.) Certified EMT-Basic (Possible mission or job experience to go with depending on gap year)
6.) President of the cooking club at my school ( looking to get started in helping out at food kitchens/homeless shelters)
7.) Feel Good Club- we run a non-profit deli that feeds the homeless
8.) Shadowed various physicians ~50-100 hours
9.)Supplemental Instructor on campus for General and Organic Chemistry

Is there anything else that you guys think I should add? I don't know if i am doing too much or too little and i really do enjoy all of the things I do. Thanks.

I'm by no means an admissions expert but from what I've seen on these forums you may need some more research depending on where you want to go. Are you aiming for a top 20? Do you have anything to show that you were doing productive research (pub, presentation, etc)?

Other than your research background I would say your EC's are pretty solid. You have enough to hit all of the usual cutoffs plus a bit.

@TheVirg I am definitely working towards creating a poster to present at a conference held by our school but that might be 6 months or so out as I am only a second year. If i could bring my GPA up and get a solid MCAT I'm hoping i can apply top 20.

Although I had many extracurriculars, I found it better, during interviews, to talk about one in more depth rather than look like I superficially contributed to many.

Looks pretty good but if you actually do something with that EMT cert you will be golden (try to get a long term position rather than just a week-long mission trip).

@CyrilFiggis Obviously thats my main priority... TONS of people have had sub average GPA's their first year and bounced back, I've figured out what wasn't working and have fixed it, thank you.
